EUROPE - Hywel George, former co-chief investment officer of European equities at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, has joined rival Morgan Stanley Investment Management.
Morgan Stanley said George would be managing director and CIO, London equity. He will report to global equity CIO Joseph McAlinden and oversee investment strategy for MSIM’s London-based equity investors and US-based international equity investors.
George joined GSAM in 1999 from Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, Morgan Stanley said.
Teams that George will have responsibility for include: Global Value Equity, Global and American Franchise, Global, International and European Small Cap Value, European Value Equity, International Growth, International Multi-Cap Growth, World, European and UK Equity, European Real Estate and European Asset Allocation.
“Hywel’s appointment is a significant step in the continuing development of our international investment capabilities,” McAlinden said.
“With successful investment teams already in place in London, Hywel will not only add his own investment expertise to the equity group, but also ensure that we are effectively deploying our resources and investment intelligence across existing and future international equity strategies.”
