GLOBAL - Carl Hansen has been appointed executive director of Milliman Global, an international organisation of actuarial and consulting firms that includes Hymans Robertson and Milliman UK.

Hansen, a principal in Milliman USA's Seattle employee benefits practice, takes over from David Howe of Toronto-based Eckler Partners Ltd, who has been executive director since 2000. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and currently edits Milliman Global's international employee benefits newsletter for multinational employers.

Robert Collett, chairman of Milliman Global, said: "Carl was our board's unanimous choice for the executive director position. His background as an employee benefits consultant is an important qualification since a majority of the Milliman Global firms specialise in that field."

The 22 firms that belong to Milliman Global operate in 30 countries and employ 2,800 people. Their combined fee income is euro 368m.
