*New Star finds Goldsmith*
Philip Goldsmith has been appointed managing director of London based New Star International Investment Funds. For the last six years he was head of international sales and marketing at US fund of funds manager, Kenmar.
Goldsmith will be responsible for building up the company’s offshore business by creating and distributing both guaranteed and non-guaranteed hedge funds.
*Peacock to be LaSalle CEO*
Christopher Peacock has been named as president and chief executive officer (CEO), effective as of January 1, 2002, of Chicago based real estate manager Jones Lang LaSalle. He will succeed Stuart Scott who is retiring as CEO at the end of the year but will continue as chairman of the board.
Peacock’s replacement as chief operating officer will be chosen later in the year.
*AZL asset management hires BOL*
Norbert Bol has joined the executive board of Dutch asset manager AZL Vermogensbeheer, part of Heerlen based employee benefits service provider AZL. He will mainly concentrate on real estate investments for institutional investors.
Previously, Bol worked as director of institutional asset management at Insinger de Beaufort.
*Skandia’s real estate managing director*
Björn Tigler has been promoted to managing director of Stockholm based real estate manager Skandia Fastighet, as of July 1. Tigler joined property investment manager Diligentia in 1994 as deputy managing director and following the acquisition of the company by Skandia Fastighet on January 1, 2000, he became assistant managing director of the merged firm.
Tigler replaces Håkan Lennersand who is stepping up as executive chairman of the board at the firm.
Lennersand replaces Ulf Spång, financial director of the parent company, Skandia, who is being appointed as deputy chairman of Skandia Fastighet.
*Hutchinson to manage sales at RLAM*
Lorna Hutchinson has been appointed as sales and marketing manager at Royal London Asset Management (RLAM). She will be responsible for identifying opportunities for the business, and reporting fund performance.
Hutchinson joins from Scottish Life, where she was investment marketing manager but followed a transfer of £10bn funds under management from Scottish Life to RLAM.
*Gartmore hires emerging markets analysts*
Gartmore has recruited two emerging markets analysts to its Pacific and emerging markets equity team, located in London. James Johnstone joins from Schroder Investment Management, where he was European emerging markets technology and telecoms analyst.
Andrew Marshal will concentrate on the financial sector after five years in Peru, most recently as a fund manager and analyst at Espirito Santo Latin Management.
*Royal Trust appoints London custody risk manager*
Royal Trust Global Securities Services is expanding its risk management team with the appointment of three directors. Geoff Pike has left Scudder Threadneedle to join the company in London as director of risk management, global custody.
Gwen Sugiyama has been appointed as director of risk policy and Vivienne Lum as director of risk assessment in Toronto.
*New CEOs for Gerrard*
Following the acquisition of Channel Islands based Fleming Offshore Banking and its renaming as Gerrard Private Banking, Old Mutual has announced the management structure for the company. Jonathan Sieff and Bob Wooddisse have been appointed as joint chief executive officer at the bank. Sieff will be chief executive of its asset management and fiduciary divisions and Wooddisse will be chief executive of its banking division.
