Pontus von Essen, head of strategy at Sweden’s AP7, has left the SEK1.1trn (€99bn) national pension fund for a new job at Deutsche Bank.
In a post on LinkedIn, von Essen said: “As of next week, I will be joining Deutsche Bank where I will be advising family offices and foundations across the Nordics.
“I look forward to apply my experience managing institutional assets to support private individuals and their investments arms.”
Von Essen has worked at AP7, which manages the default option in Sweden’s first-pillar premium pension system, since 2017, when he joined as senior portfolio manager, having come to the state-run institution from the role of deputy chief investment officer at the Ericsson pension fund.
In March 2020, he was promoted at AP7 to become head of fixed income, foreign exchange and alpha, and two years later, became head of strategy.
IPE has requested comment from AP7 on von Essen’s departure.
