Alecta, Robeco, Nedgroup Investments, Amundi, VBL
Alecta – Ann Grevelius has been appointed as the acting head of equities at the Swedish pensions institution, having been brought in to replace the previous head of equity portfolio management, Liselott Ledin.
Ledin, who has worked at Alecta for 28 years, was fired as part of a series of rapid changes the firm’s chief executive officer, Magnus Billing, made this week. The steps were taken to repair customer confidence in the provider amid a scandal over huge losses on US bank holdings.
Grevelius is a member of Alecta’s board of directors but is stepping out of that role for the period in which she works as the firm’s equities chief.
In another change, Billing appointed Kerim Kaskal as acting chief investment officer, filling the role left temporarily vacant since January after Henrik Gade Jepsen was taken ill with COVID complications.
Robeco – Ralf Oberbannscheidt has been appointed as global head of thematic investing. In this role, he will oversee Robeco’s teams and further development of the active thematic investing offering. The investment teams are based in Rotterdam and Zurich and together manage approximately €18.7bn of assets.
Oberbannscheidt will join on 1 May 2023, report to Mark van der Kroft, CIO of fundamental and quant equity, and be based in Zurich. Pending regulatory approval, Oberbannscheidt will also join the executive committee of Robeco Switzerland Ltd. – a nexus for pioneering and active sustainable thematic strategies for more than two decades.
Oberbannscheidt joins from Global Thematic Partners (GTP) of which he was a founding partner and portfolio manager. Among managerial responsibilities and oversight, he was portfolio manager for the Global Thematic and Global Agribusiness strategies.
GTP’s client base consisted of institutional mandates as well as sub-advised retail funds. From 1999 to 2010, he was senior portfolio manager at Deutsche Asset Management, based in Frankfurt and for DB Advisors later in New York.
Nedgroup Investments – Apiramy Jeyarajah has taken up the role of chief commercial officer for the asset manager’s international business.
Jeyarajah joined on 3 April 2023, based in London. Before joining Nedgroup, Jeyarajah was head of UK wholesale distribution at Aviva Investors and the head of financial institutions, UK and Israel at HSBC Global Asset Management.
Amundi Deutschland – Kerstin Gräfe joined as a new member of the management board, effective 1 April. In her new role, Gräfe is responsible for middle/back office, client service, regulatory and customer reporting, business administration, strategic projects, IT and facility management.
Prior to her new role, she served as chief operating officer of Amundi Deutschland since 2019. She started her career at Swiss Life Asset Management in 2001 and then moved to Augsburger Aktienbank.
VBL – Peter Rötzer has been named as a new member of the board of directors at Vsorgungsanstalt des Bundes und der Länder (VBL), Germany’s pension provider for public sector employees, effective 1 April. As a new member of the board, Rötzer will be responsible for investment, customer and service management, and legal processes.
Rötzer joins fellow board directors Angelika Stein-Homberg and CIO Michael Canvas. Previously, he has led the department for collective bargaining agreements at the Ministry of Finance of the state of Bavaria, as a representative of Bavaria.
