IFRS Foundation – Erkki Liikanen has been appointed to serve a third term as chair of the IFRS Foundation Trustees, ensuring continuity and stability in the organisation’s leadership as it institutionalises the International Sustainability Standard Board’s (ISSB) work and strengthens the International Accounting Standards Board’s (IASB) International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
The trustees are responsible for the strategy and governance of the IFRS Foundation and oversight of its two standard-setting boards – IASB and ISSB – in developing reporting standards for the capital markets.
Liikanen has served as chair since October 2018. He was previously the governor of the Finnish Central Bank and has also served as a European commissioner.
Under Liikanen’s leadership, the trustees have expanded the Foundation’s remit to include standard-setting for sustainability disclosures and have enhanced its governance.
Hymans Robertson – The pensions and financial services consultancy has promoted Iain Campbell to head of LGPS investments.
Campbell has played a significant role in the firm’s investment defined benefit (DB) team since joining in 2020. He has provided exceptional support to Hymans Robetson’s local government pension scheme (LGPS) clients on a full spectrum of issues, from investment strategy and pooling to responsible investment.
Earlier in his career, Campbell spent time working as an LGPS officer, giving his invaluable insight into receiving and providing consulting advice. On top of his exhaustive experience, he has a passion for helping clients implement the right investment strategy to meet their goals and needs.
Mediolanum International Funds Ltd (MIFL) – The European asset management platform of Mediolanum Banking Group has appointed Daniel Loughney as its new head of fixed income.
With more than 30 years of experience in the industry working for leading international asset managers, most recently as senior fixed income portfolio manager at Border to Coast Pension Group, and before that as senior vice president at AllianceBernstein Asset Management for over 10 years, Loughney brings with him a deep understanding of market trends and valuations drivers across asset classes.
Based in Dublin, Loughney will lead a growing team of investment professionals and be responsible for the internally managed fixed income strategies. He brings his expertise actively contributing also to the definition of the macro view of the firm’s investment committee, which will be the base of strategic and tactical investment decisions for all funds including the multi-manager strategies.
In his role, Loughney’s focus will be to continue to deliver superior quality of performance, expand the team skills and competencies, and help the creation of innovative, client-oriented investment solutions. He will report to Brian O’Reilly, head of market strategy, while also working closely with Christophe Jaubert, MIFL’s chief investment officer.
Daniel succeeds Charles Diebel who made significant contributions to the fixed-income and broader investment team. He will continue to contribute in an advisory capacity.
