Nuveen Private Capital (NPC) – Katherine Elmore-Jones has joined as partner and head of private equity business development in Europe. She will be based in London and report to Chris Freeze and David Burnside, co-heads of NPC business development.
In this newly created role, Elmore-Jones will be exclusively focused on partnering with European institutional investors to develop tailored private equity solutions to meet their needs. She will leverage her 20+ years of institutional investor relationships to support capital raising initiatives in the region.
Schroders – Phil Middleton has been appointed as head of UK with effect from 1 January 2025.
Middleton has an excellent track record of working in the UK market, having spent most of his career based in London. He joined Schroders in 1992, and during his 32-year tenure has held roles across the business in distribution and marketing. In 2020 he moved to New York to take on the role of head of institutional distribution, North America overseeing direct sales, relationship management and consultant relations. He became chief executive officer of North America in January 2022 and was subsequently appointed in June 2023 as CEO Americas.
Tom Darnowski has been promoted to CEO Americas. He has been with Schroders since 2013 leading product development across the Americas and most recently held the role of global head of product strategy, where he oversaw Schroders’ global product range.
Both roles will continue to report to Karine Szenberg, global head of client group at Schroders.
James Rainbow, who has been at Schroders for the last 17 years and is the current head of UK, will be leaving Schroders to pursue opportunities outside of the business.
Brown Advisory – The global investment management firm that oversees $164.9bn in client assets globally has appointed Patrick Aylwin as Northern Europe institutional sales director.
Aylwin will work closely with Brown Advisory’s investment and business development teams to add further expertise and insight for clients located in Northern Europe, which comprises various pension funds, banks, wealth managers and family offices that are primarily invested in the firm’s global and US equity strategies. Brown Advisory currently manages $2.3bn on behalf of its investors in the region.
Aylwin joins from Perpetual Asset Management, which acquired JO Hambro in January 2023, where he was head of Nordics and responsible for managing key strategic relationships across Scandinavia and the Netherlands.
MainStreet Partners – The ESG, sustainability and impact data provider has appointed Sophie Meatyard as funds research director.
Meatyard joins from Abrdn, where she led the multi-asset fund selection team’s ESG processes, overseeing proprietary ESG ratings, regulatory updates, and manager engagement on key sustainability themes.
Prior to that, Meatyard was at Hymans Robertson, where she focused on manager research within global and UK equities, emphasising ESG integration and strategic fund insights.
Clarion Partners Europe – The real estate investment fund manager specialising in European logistics and industrial assets has appointed Jasper Petit to the newly created role of chief strategy officer.
He brings nearly 20 years of pan-European real estate experience, the last 10 of which have been at Bouwinvest Real Estate Investors, a longstanding limited partner (LP) of the company.
Petit will be based out of Clarion’s newly opened Amsterdam office. Alongside CEO Alistair Calvert, he will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the company, across both new and existing product and business lines.
Petit held several senior roles at Bouwinvest, most recently as director of European investments, where he grew the European commercial real estate platform assets under management from €1.1bn to €1.9bn across the logistics, residential, data centre and hospitality sectors, including both listed and non-listed real estate.
ABV – The Arbeitsgemeinschaft berufsständischer Versorgungseinrichtungen (ABV), the association representing for Versorgungswerke, first pillar schemes for professionals, has appointed Carsten Rothbart as the new co-CEO.
Rothbart succeeds Ulrich Krüger, who is retiring. Krüger served at ABV for 11 years as a co-CEO responsible for asset allocation. Prior to joining ABV, Rothbart, a lawyer, was head of the tax and financial policy department at Zentralverband des Deutschen Handwerks (ZDH), an association representing craft businesses and workers, and head of taxes and finance department at Zentraler Immobilien Ausschuss (ZIA), the association representing the real estate industry in Germany.
Astorg – The private equity firm is expanding its portfolio performance team with two senior hires based in London: Keith Beattie and Markus Nagel.
Beattie joins as a partner to oversee the portfolio operations team, reporting to Benjamin Cordonnier, head of portfolio performance and partner, business services. Together with Cordonnier, they will lead the firm’s ongoing build-out of its portfolio performance team.
Prior to joining Astorg, Beattie spent over a decade at McKinsey & Company where he helped to establish the firm’s McKinsey Transformation business. Prior to that, he held various consulting advisory roles including at Alvarez & Marsal Europe, and Gemini Consulting, with a focus on turnaround and performance improvement situations.
Nagel joined the firm recently as a managing director to lead the operational finance practice, and he will report to Beattie.
In his previous role, Nagel was the global finance practice lead and part of the operational excellence team at Apax Partners. He later took on the role of chief financial officer at its portfolio company, EcoOnline.
