UK- Northern Trust’s multi-manager business has appointed Raphael Robelin of Invesco, and Jonathan Platt of Royal London Asset Management as managers for its UK multi-manager fixed interest fund.
Robelin is a fixed income portfolio manager a Invesco and will manage the corporate bonds portfolio. Platt, associate director head of fixed interest investments at Royal London AM, will be responsible for the aggregate portfolio, where he will aim to secure the best allocation between government issues and corporate bonds.
Robelin and Platt join Ian Fishwick of Credit Suisse AM, who currently manages government issues in the fund. His portfolio will now only hold a maximum of 10% in corporate bonds, with a maximum of 30% previously.
The appointments follow changes to the fund structure resulting in the fund being split into three mandates with each manager managing a third of the total fund.
Says Tony Earnshaw, managing director of multi-manager products: “we decided to structure the UK fixed interest fund in this way in order to best accommodate our clients’ needs, so the division of responsibilities between the three managers reflects the sources of added-value and risk available in a fixed income portfolio.”
