GLOBAL - Wayne Bowers has been promoted to international chief investment officer for the EMEA and Asia-Pacific regions at Northern Trust Global Investments (NTGI) Ltd.
Northern Trust said the decision to create this new position of CIO for its UK-based EMEA and Asia-Pacific asset management operations was unrelated to recent management changes.
In mid-August, Richard Bartholomew, former COO of NTGI Ltd, succeeded William Huffmann as CEO who resigned for personal reasons.
A spokesperson for Northern Trust told IPE the appointment of Bowers was a "completely separate" development and "has been on the cards for a while".
Bowers noted NTGI Ltd aims to "continue the expansion of its investment activities in EMEA and APAC".
As part of his remit, he will oversee NTGI's active equity management, active fixed income management and quantitative management investment teams in London and Tokyo.
Orie Dudley remains NTGI's global CIO based in Chicago, Northern Trust also confirmed.
Bowers joined NTGI in 1999 and has been director of global fixed income since 2003.
