GLOBAL - The International Organisation of Pension Supervisors (IOPS) said today it has appointed Ross Jones as its new president.
Jones, deputy chairman of the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA), will replace John Ashcroft of the UK's Pension Regulator (TPR), who served as the IOPS' president for the past three years.
The IOPS said in a statement today Solange Berstein, superintendent of pension funds in Chile, still serves as vice president.
The organisation is an independent international body with around 50 member countries and territories, representing countries involved in the supervision of private pension funds, and has recently completed licensing guidelines for pension entities.
Jones announced the organisation will also further develop guidelines for supervision, while examining issues such as pension fund investing in alternative asset classes, fund governance, cost and fees.
