IRELAND - The Pensions Board has named Mary Hutch as the new head of its investigation and compliance unit.
Hutch, who is currently head of information and training at the Irish pensions regulator, will be taking up her position from September.
She succeeds Jerry Moriarty who became head of the Irish Association of Pension Funds (IAPF) in July.
David Malone, currently project manager for the National Pensions Action Campaign, has taken on Hutch's role.
The Pensions Board has been able to issue 'on the spot' fines since the beginning of this year for minor offences where employers fail to notify the Board of their compliance position.
By law, every employer in Ireland is obliged to provide all employees with some form of access to a pension no matter whether workers are in full-time, part-time, temporary, contract or casual employment.
Last year, 354 audits on compliance were carried out and further investigation was necessary in 84 cases, five of which related to employer contributions.
