AGI, Brunel Pension Partnership, Aviva, LGIM, AXA IM, BNPP AM, Ostrum, Carillon Tower Advisers, Cushon
Allianz Global Investors (AGI) – Armin Sandhövel, chief investment officer infrastructure equity at AGI, will soon leave his post, sources told IPE. Sandhövel is currently on gardening leave, it is understood, and his future plans have not been disclosed.
A spokesperson for AGI declined to comment.
Sandhövel joined the firm as global CIO for infrastructure equity in 2012. In his role, he was responsible for managing €1.5bn in assets.
Prior to joining AGI, Sandhövel was the founder and chief executive officer of Allianz Climate Solution, the competence centre for the Allianz Group on climate and cleantech. He served as head of carbon risk and renewable risk management at Dresdner Bank from 2001 to 2007.
Brunel Pension Partnership – Roelie van Wijk and Miles Geldard have been appointed investment non-executive directors at the UK local authority pension pool as it prepares to gradually turn its focus to more exclusively managing and monitoring its portfolios.
Van Wijk was CEO at TKP Investments in the Netherlands for almost 12 years and global head of responsible business and public affairs at Aegon Asset Management for two years. She has also worked as chair of the board at the Dutch Fund and Asset Management Association, and of the Investment Leaders Group at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
She sits on a number of supervisory boards or investment committees in the Netherlands.
Geldard was head of fixed income and balanced portfolios at Jardine Fleming/JPMorgan Asset Management for five years before spending two years as CIO and head of the global multi-asset group at JPMorgan Asset Management. He has also worked at RWC Partners and Jupiter Asset Management. He is a trustee of Save the Elephants and has also had a trusteeship at the BioGuinea Foundation.
Aviva/Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) – Emma Douglas has been appointed managing director for workplace savings at Aviva, leaving LGIM, where she was head of defined contribution (DC).
At Aviva, she will be reporting to Rob Barker, managing director, UK savings and retirement.
At LGIM, Rita Butler-Jones, head of DC sales, and Stuart Murphy, head of DC client management, will assume Douglas’ responsibilities while LGIM looks to appoint a successor who will head the DC business.
Douglas joined LGIM in 2014 from Mercer, where she had been partner and head of workplace savings. Before that she was head of DC sales at BlackRock. She has been chair of the PLSA policy board.
AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) – Olivier Eugène has been appointed as head of climate and Liudmila Strakodonskaya as ESG analyst, further strengthening AXA IM’s Responsible Investment (RI) team.
Eugène will work on reinforcing AXA IM’s Research on Climate, with a focus on the transition to net zero ambitions. He will further deepen the company’s involvement in various climate initiatives such as Climate Action 100+ and strengthen AXA IM’s expertise on climate-related topics across sectors.
Strakodonskaya will provide thematic research and analysis on ESG topics with a specific focus on biodiversity as well as on green and sustainable bonds.
Reporting to Virginie Derue, head of ESG research, they will both support AXA IM’s active engagement initiatives, further developing its relationships with companies and corporations.
Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) – Julie Moret, who recently left Franklin Templeton, has resurfaced as global head of sustainable investing and stewardship at NTAM.
At Franklin Templeton, Moret was global head of environmental, social and governance. Her departure was revealed in March.
“With Julie’s proven experience building a holistic ESG practice and our broad offering of innovative, industry-leading sustainable solutions, I am confident we will continue to help clients achieve their intended investment outcomes,” said said NTAM president Shundrawn Thomas.
BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) – Olivier de Larouzière has been named as chief investment officer for global fixed income at BNPP AM. He is based in Paris and reports to Rob Gambi, global head of investments.
De Larouzière will be responsible for managing the firm’s global fixed income platform, with a strong focus on investment performance and commercial success. He will retain his existing responsibilities as head of BNPP AM’s global multi strategy product (GMS) team and will additionally join BNPP AM’s business, investment and investment management committees.
De Larouzière has more than 25 years of experience in fixed income investment. He joined BNPP AM in January 2019 to manage the GMS team, having previously been co-CIO of fixed income at Ostrum Asset Management. Prior to that he was a senior portfolio manager at Credit Lyonnais Asset Management, having begun his career as a fixed income portfolio manager at Ecureuil Gestion.
BNPP AM’s global fixed income group includes more than 80 investment professionals located in London, Paris, New York and Asia Pacific. Collectively managing €168bn of assets in single- and multi-strategy products across sovereign debt, corporate credit, emerging market debt, structured securities and currency, the group also encompasses money market products, insurance products and credit research.
Ostrum Asset Management – The Natixis Investment Managers affiliate has appointed Gaëlle Malléjac as CIO for insurance and asset and liability management (ALM) solutions, effective 25 May. She will report to CIO Ibrahima Kobar and join the Ostrum executive committee.
In her role as CIO for insurance and ALM solutions, Malléjac will be tasked with overseeing the management of Ostrum’s insurance portfolios and steering their risks, managing the relationships with the firm’s insurer clients and supporting business development in the division.
The Insurance and ALM solutions department houses fixed iIncome and equity investment teams, as well as a solutions team in charge of lead investment management for insurance clients and advisory.
Carillon Tower Advisers – The multi-boutique asset manager has announced that Robert Kendall has been named president effective 7 May, succeeding Cooper Abbott, who retired from the firm on March 31.
Kendall was most recently CEO of DWS Americas, but also served as president and head of client coverage during his tenure at DWS, and was a member of the executive board at DWS Group.
Cushon – Former pensions minister Baroness Ros Altmann has joined the advisory board of the savings and pensions fintech provider. Cushon said she would strategic input on the firm’s proposition and product development, as well as helping to drive positive disruption in the pensions industry.
Cushon is aiming to accelerate the use of technology and innovation in UK workplace savings and pensions, including promoting greater transparency of the connection between the way pensions are invested and sustainability issues. It recently launched a ‘Net Zero Now’ pension, which it claimed as a first.
