SWITZERLAND – Specialist fixed-income manager PIMCO has appointed Joachim Suter to the position of Swiss head of institutional business development.
This is a newly created role that will add “considerable strength” to PIMCO’s Swiss team, the group said in a press release today.
Suter, 34, is based in London and reports to PIMCO managing director Joe McDevitt. He will also be working closely with PIMCO’s other regional business development teams in Europe.
He joins from UBS Global Asset Management where he was director of client relationship management and business development and responsible for institutional clients in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Africa and offshore locations.
Before this, he was assistant vice-president in the same area at UBS, with a focus on servicing institutional clients and high-net-worth individuals in Germany and Austria.
Suter will be responsible for building on PIMCO’s existing position in the Swiss institutional market.
“We are delighted to welcome Joachim to the team and feel that he will play a key role in further developing our position in the Swiss market,” said McDevitt.
“Joachim’s extensive experience and knowledge of this key market will ensure that we continue to offer our clients a very high standard of service as we expand in Europe.”
As at 15 November, PIMCO had 10 separate accounts in Switzerland with a value of over $2bn (€1.7bn), and a further 11 clients invested in its pooled funds with a value of $475m.
