UK - Actuarial consultancy Punter Southall & Co. has opened an office in Glasgow run by ex-Hazell Carr Pensions Consulting staffers Ann Marie Dickson and Andy Thomson.

The office, opened at the beginning of August, will run parallel with the firm’s Edinburgh office, serving the corporate market in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the north of England.

“Ann Marie Dickson and Andy Thomson will provide the full range of pension scheme services for corporate clients in both the public and private sector,” the firm said in a statement.

New chief executive John Batting said he was “delighted” to be in partnership with Dickson and Thomson. “They have already shown that they can attract clients by offering cost effective and professional services,” he said.

“We believe the Punter Southall association, and access to our technical resources and systems, will lead to continuing growth in our target market.”

Thomson added: “Our employer and trustee clients are principally in the small and medium enterprise corporate market. They appreciate our genuinely proactive service, partner led client management and transparent fee agreements.”

Last week the firm, which was founded in 1988 and is now part of South Africa-based Sanlam, appointed Batting as chief executive and Elizabeth Battams as managing director.
