Irish instutional assets managers 2025 summary

IPE’s latest survey of Ireland’s institutional asset management market covers €294.9bn in total assets managed by 23 domestic and global managers for Irish institutional clients, with €108.9bn invested by pension funds.

  • Pension funds dominate

Irish institutional clients have €294.9bn under management:

  • €108.9bn for pension funds.
  • €27.9bn for insurance companies.
  • €47.9bn for other institutional clients.

Segregated accounts predominate with €72.2bn, while pooled funds account for €17.5bn. Where stated, active management (€63.3bn) outweighs passive (€8.8bn).

The leading managers for pension fund assets include Irish Life Investment Managers (€71.4bn), Legal & General IM (€39.7bn), and Mercer (€32.1bn).

  • Irish institutional assets grew by 21% in the past year
  • Irish institutional assets grew from €243.5bn in 2024 to €294.9bn in 2025.
  • Specialist mandates are prevalent, totalling €58.5bn.
  • The five largest institutional asset managers (Irish Life, LGIM, Mercer, Insight, State Street) control a significant share of the market.
