EUROPE – Schroders Property Investment Management is making a push into Europe, joining two European property associations, and adding one member to its team.
Schroders Property Investment Management has become a member of both the European Public Real Estate Association and the European Association for Investors in Non-listed Real Estate Vehicles.
Schroders has also appointed John Hammond, formerly of Henderson Investors, as property equity analyst. Hammond will also be involved in managing client investment in this area.
Schroders already has a UK property funds of funds business, which will soon have the option of investing in property equities alongside the full range of unlisted pooled property vehicles. Adding Hammond to the team, Schroders says it now intends to expand its fund of funds service into continental Europe based on client demand.
The company has seen “increasing demand from clients for an allocation European property within mixed asset portfolios” and, says Schroders, “the team’s expansion to capture outperformance from property equities and other indirect forms of European property exposure will allow the requirements of investors to be met.”
Schroders Property Investment management is the property arm of Schroders plc, which has around 135.7 billion euros in asset under management.
Schroders also announced today that it has launched a second private equity fund of funds. The fund will invest in top tier private equity management groups in Europe and the US, with another 10% outside these markets. The launch of the fund follows demand from small and large institutional investors, and high net worth individuals.
