UK - Guy Henriques has been appointed as head of official institutions at Schroders. He joins from the Bank of International Settlement (BIS) where he had been head of asset management.
IPE reported in August that the BIS was looking to appoint a replacement for Henriques.
"This is an extremely exciting opportunity. Schroders is well placed to establish itself as a key player in this business area," Henriques commented today.
In the newly created role at Schroders, Henriques will be "responsible for strengthening and developing the business for central banks and sovereign institutions worldwide", a press release stated. He will report to John Troiano, deputy head of global distribution, in charge of Schroders' Global Institutional Business.
At the BIS, Henriques was a member of the BIS Banking Steering committee, the senior management team responsible for the BIS' overall banking operations, as well as serving as Secretary to the BIS Finance Committee, the main financial decision-making body of the Bank.
"This is a significant hire for Schroders, Guy brings a wealth of experience to this new role. The focus and development of Schroders' presence in this client group is integral to the growth of our institutional business worldwide and we are delighted to have Guy on board," Troiano said.
Schroders currently has £122.3bn (€176.8 bn) in assets under management.
