UK – State Street Corp. has hired Tony Phillips, the former director of pensions at Xerox, to be head of its London-based consultant management team.
State Street said in statement that he would be responsible for the company’s outreach to the consultant community, particularly in the pension and collective investment sectors.
He will report to Martha Whitman, vice president of its UK investor services business.
Phillips left Xerox at the end of last year and was replaced by Paul Hopkins, said Ron Hitchins, financial controller at Xerox’s pension department.
State Street said Phillips has more than 30 years of experience in pensions servicing and consulting – with 15 years at Xerox.
“Tony’s appointment will help advance State Street’s position as the investment services provider of choice for UK clients,” said Whitman.
“This role is key as we build upon the considerable momentum of new mandates we’ve experienced over the past year.”
State Street has set up discussion groups and a newsletter which Phillips will expand upon in 2004.
State Street Global Advisors won a 150 million-pound (224 million-euro) global enhanced indexing equity mandate from the copier company’s 2.3 billion-euro scheme in February. Xerox also has a custody relationship with State Street.
