UK/US- Scottish Widows Investment Partnership has announced the appointment of Phil Chappell as investment director for US markets. Chappell joins at the beginning of next month and will report to Graham Wood, head of global sectors and international research.

As with the rest of the US team, Chappell will take on a joint stock analyst and fund manager role. He comes from Schroder Investment Management where he was director for US equities and was responsible for a range of US funds and a team of managers. Prior to that he was a senior fund manager at Perpetual where he worked for seventeen years,

He joins a the wake of what SWIP calls a fundamental review of the firm’s philosophy and investment process which it says has led to a greater emphasis being placed on more detailed research by the most experienced fund managers.
