DENMARK - Nina Movin, former head of equities at Danish healthcare fund PKA, is setting up a Nordic sales office for UK asset manager, Threadneedle Investments, in Copenhagen.

The office will sell primarily to institutional investors in Denmark and Norway.

Movin said she would concentrate on four major product areas: European small caps, global equities, European High Yield and Emerging Markets bonds.

Threadneedle's hedge fund offerings may also come to the fore. It recently hired Oliver Roll from investment consultancy, FERI to win German institutional business and Angus Scrace from Morley in London to manage global consultant relationships.

"I worked for 10 years as a client at PKA, then six years as a broker for Nordea," Movin told IPE. "Now I'm at an asset manager in the middle."

At PKA Movin made some far-sighted investments such as into South African equities ten years ago. At Nordea Securities in Copenhagen she oversaw sales and analysis.

"There is a lot of competition here, including foreign players such as BlackRock, Schroders and TRowe Price. My message is that we are here for the long haul," said Movin.

Threadneedle Investments manages approximately €108bn.
