UK- Mark Howard, a partner at the consultant Barnett Waddingham has been elected as the new chairman of the Association of Pensioneer Trustees. Howard has served on the APT Committee for five years and has over 15 years experience in the field of small self administered schemes (SSaS).
The APT represents those individuals , professional practices and companies approved by the Inland Revenue as pensioneer trustees to small self-administered schemes.
Commenting on his appointment, Howard said the year ahead is likely to be busy for the APT, particularly given the Treasury’s imminent consultation document on simplification.
“There are a number of areas where the committee will be looking to achieve reforms,, including an updating of the funding rules for SSaSs which at present do not permit adequate pension contributions to be made during a member’s working life.” He says.
