UK – The £9.6bn (€13.8bn) British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme has named Dawn Shirley as its new scheme secretary, replacing John Haigh.
Shirley took over the role as scheme secretary to the committee of management earlier this year, according a scheme newsletter. Haigh has now taken on a new role at Coal Pension Trustees.
The BCSSS Pensions News said Shirley has 19 years pensions experience and qualified as an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute in 1994. She started her career in pensions in 1986 at the BT Pension Scheme.
She was at administration firm Capita Hartshead for almost eight years as a scheme secretary and client manager.
The newsletter also revealed that the Sheffield-based fund is considering whether to extend the term of office of pension representative trustees from three to four years, following new rules requiring trustees to have more knowledge.
And it said that Bob Chappell and Stuart Jukes were elected as pensioner representatives trustees for three-year terms.
The BCSSS will hold its annual general meeting in Chester on September 29.
