France - European alternative asset manager Unigestion has appointed Gérard Pfauwadel, a former managing director of insurer AGF, as chairman of its French subsidiary, Unigestion Asset Management (France).
Pfauwadel was chairman of MATIF from 1988 to 1997 and has been chairman of the Banque Centrale de Compensation, BCC, the commodities futures clearing house, since January 1990.
He joined the AGFAllianz group in 1998 where he was chairman of the French real estate companies Sagitrans and Safitrans, chief executive officer of Mondial Assistance Group from 2000 to 2001 and managing director of AGF and member of the executive board, responsible for non-life insurance from 2001 to 2003.
