UK – The 19 billion-pound (28.4 billion-euro) Universities Superannuation Scheme has named replacements for former chief pensions manager Rosemary Mounce.
The Liverpool-based scheme has named Bernadette Steventon and Brendan Mulkern to the new posts of pensions operations manager and pensions policy manager respectively.
It said: “This follows a policy decision to split the functions of the position of chief pensions manager between two people.” Mounce has left the company, a spokesman said.
Mounce, 51, is on the benefits council of the National Association of Pension Funds and was appointed to the NHS Pensions Agency Special Health Authority in April this year.
Steventon has been with USS for eight years and now has overall responsibility for day-to-day pension administration and staffing. Mulkern is responsible for scheme rules and policy.
Earlier this year USS, the main pension scheme for UK universities, named Tom Merchant as chief executive following the retirement of David Chynoweth. And earlier this month it announced a merger with Open University Superannuation Scheme for support staff.
