NETHERLANDS - Kick van der Pol has been appointed chairman of the new Dutch Pension Federation, the umbrella body of lobbying organisations VB, OPF and UvB.

Van der Pol, 60, has ample management experience, according to VB.

The organisation said he had been executive director at a number of social security service providers such as ASF, GUO, SGG and Relan, with pension funds as affiliated organisations.

He is chairman of the supervisory boards at both Ortec Finance and insurer ASR and has served as executive chairman of insurer Interpolis since 2002.

In addition, Van der Pol is chairman at Boaborea, the lobbying body for organisations related to occupational health and safety, out-placement, re-integration and career coaching.

He has also been a member of several visitation committees at pension funds, as well as an advisor for pension schemes.

VB added that approximately 25 staff of the three representative bodies would move into a joint office in the Prinsenhofcomplex in the Hague on 15 November. Gerard Riemen, VB's director, will head up the new organisation.

For the time being, VB, OPF and UvB will remain as individual organisations, continuing their specific services for their members, according to Gert Kloosterboer, spokesman for VB.

However, the lobbying bodies will speak with one voice on joint issues, he said.

The news that the three organisations would form a federation was first announced in September.
