LONDON/GLOBAL – Aon Consulting has promoted Simon Wasserman, the former head of international benefits at ASA, recently acquired by Aon, to the position of global chairman of its international benefits consulting practices.
Wasserman will be responsible for developing the consultant’s global network in 47 countries world-wide, with the aim of ensuring seamless consulting and benefit service to the group’s multinational client base.
Wasserman will also sit on the Aon global operating committee, while retaining his position as managing director of the UK international benefits practice.
Don Ingram, chairman of Aon Consulting Worldwide, comments:” We have grown by acquisition coupled with double-digit organic growth.
“Our acquisitions have brought us some excellent capabilities around the world that give us the potential to compete successfully with anyone.
“To realise this potential we are now moving to a more formalised structure to manage our international employee benefits network and to ensure that multinational clients can rely on a consistently high quality of service, no matter where they enter the network.”
Aon has also appointed Tommy Garvey as a senior investment consultant in its UK investment practice.
Garvey joins from Towers Perrin, where he was a senior investment consultant.
The firm this week picked up a consultancy and actuarial advice mandate from the £4.5m defined benefit pension scheme of the Royal College of Physicians.
The contract will be administered out Aon’s London office.
Dr. John Bennett, treasurer and chairman of the board of trustees at the Royal College of Physicians, notes: “We chose Aon Consulting because we were impressed by the professionalism of both their actuarial and consultancy services and the depth of resources available.”
