GLOBAL - Watson Wyatt Worldwide has named Roger Urwin, its global practice director for investment consulting, to its board of directors.

He’ll replace Paul Thornton, who retired from the board in January.

Urwin, who joined the firm in 1989, already serves on the so-called ‘Global Matrix Group’ - the executive management team.

"We are very pleased to have Roger join our board of directors," said John Haley, president and chief executive. "With his international and management expertise, Roger will bring a wealth of experience to our board that will help us continue to grow our business globally."

The appointment was made on February 10 at a board meeting. Urwin's term will continue until the 2007 annual meeting.

Urwin is a graduate of Oxford University with master's degrees in mathematics and applied statistics. He is also a fellow at the Institute of Actuaries.

Meanwhile, the firm has appointed Richard Sard as a senior consultant to its defined contribution administration business in the UK. He joins from MNPA, where he was a senior client manager.
