AP3 – Lars Sundberg has been appointed by Sweden’s AP3 as chief portfolio risk manager and will report in the newly created position to the pension fund’s CIO Mårten Lindeborg. Sundberg comes to AP3 from DNB, where he has worked as a fund manager since 2002. Before that, his employers included Gotabanken, InterIKEA, ABB Investment Management, Erik Penser and Enskilda.
Northern Trust Asset Management – Hazel McNeilage has been appointed managing director for the EMEA, responsible for institutional business development and relationship management across the region. She joins from Northill Capital, where she was a consultant. Before then, she was head of funds management at QIC and global head of sales at Principal Global Investors.
Towers Watson – The consultancy has boosted its global hedge fund capabilities with three hires. Aongus O’Gorman, who will cover a range of hedge fund strategies, was previously managing director of boutique consultancy Round Tower Solutions. Victoria Vodolazschi, who will focus on long/ short equity, macro and systematic strategies, joins from PivotalPath, where she was a consulting strategy specialist. Abbas Alighanbari, who will be involved in a range of hedge fund strategies, initially focusing on long/short equity, joins from International Asset Management, where he researched and conducted quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Cardano – Patrick Cunningham has been senior client director. He joins from Goldman Sachs, where he worked for 15 years in New York and London, most recently as managing director in the investment banking division’s Pension Advisory Group.
Henderson Global Investors – Alex Mander has been appointed associate director for the institutional business to work with UK-based consultants. He joins from Daiwa SB Investments (UK), where he worked as a business development manager in institutional and wholesale markets.
Macquarie Investment Management – Gillian Evans has been appointed head of UK institutional distribution. She joins from Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she was responsible for long-term relationships with institutional clients. Before then, she spent four years at Insight Investment in London.
Eaton Vance – Six equity research analysts have been appointed as part of a broader effort to expand the company’s global equity investment offerings. Samantha Pandolfi joins from Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM), Ian Kirwan from the Qatar Investment Authority, and Iain McNaught from PIMCO. Allen Mayer and Nakaba Minai also join from GSAM, while Claus Roller joins from Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
LCP Investment Consulting – Matt Gibson has been appointed head of investment research. He has previously worked at Aon Hewitt and GAM asset managers, where he managed fund-of-fund portfolios for institutional and retail investors.
