Paul Anker has been promoted to managing director and global head of institutional sales and marketing at Citi Alternative Investments (CAI). London-based Anker was previously CAI's head of European institutional sales. Owen Thiers and François Bornens have also been promoted to co-heads of CAI's European Institutional sales team.

The Pensions Management Institute (PMI) has named as its new president Steve Delo, managing director of Close Multi-Manager and a director of Close Investments. Delo takes over from Penny Green. The PMI, the UK's professional body devoted to promoting professional standards, said Delo would take over from Green at the annual general meeting on July 12.

Eduard van Gelderen will replace Toine Picokrie as head of fixed income Europe at The Hague-based ING Investment Management Europe. The firm has €150bn assets under management in Europe. Previously, Van Gelderen was head of investments at Lombard Odier Institutional Asset Management. Picokrie has left to set up shop for himself.

Daniel Giamouridis has been appointed at the French business school EDHEC as research associate in charge of derivatives and alternative investments, focusing on option valuation, hedging and hedge funds,  Giamouridis is a lecturer for the department of accounting and finance at Athens University of Economics and Business and is a visiting fellow at London-based City University's Cass Business School.

John Richards, co-founder of London-based SG Asset Management with the high profile former Deutsche Asset Management UK fund manager Nicola Horlick, is leaving the group on March 23. Richards will step down to return to his preferred role of day to day fund management.

Michael Warren's move to Thames River Capital as investment head has been confirmed. The former HSBC Investments' sales and marketing managing director will join the defected Credit Suisse Asset Management's multi-manager team Gary Potter and Rob Burdett, who also recently moved to the London-based asset manager.
