GLOBAL - Hoechster Pensionskasse, Fidelity, European Commission, Mercer, Hewitt, Certinvest, Hymans, Barings, Northern Trust, Henderson, SWIP.
Hoechster Pensionskasse - The German €313m multi-employer pension fund, which grew out of the old Hoechst chemical pension scheme, will lose its head of asset management and board member, Andreas Hilka, at the end of this year. Hilka, who will build a pension consultancy for Credit Suisse, will be replaced by Alexander Helmes, who will be promoted. His responsibilities for the board will be taken over by Joachim Schwind, head of the board.
Fidelity International - Andrew Wells has been promoted to the new position of chief investment officer for fixed income. He will be based in London and report to Michael Gordon, global head of fixed income and property.
European Commission - David Wright has been appointed as the deputy director-general of the Internal Markets and Services. Having worked at the EC for 30 years, Wright will work alongside Charlie McCreevy in the Internal Markets DG, with specific responsibility for public procurement policy, free movement of capital, financial services and institutions.
Mercer - Dick Strattan has been promoted to lead Mercer's employee benefits division which advises companies on their insured pension arrangements and associated employee benefits. Based in London, Strattan is a senior actuary and worldwide partner at the firm. He replaces Alan Whalley, Mercer's UK business leader, who was interim head of employee benefits prior to Strattan's appointment.
Hewitt Associates - Elsewhere, Hewitt has poached Mercer's Simon Brimblecombe has joined the international retirement team in Switzerland, heading Hewitt's international practice in Geneva.
Certinvest - Bucharest-based Eugen Voicu, chairman of Romanian mutual fund management firm Certinvest which was recently taken over by Aviva, is set to take over the position of investment manager at Aviva in December.
Hymans Robertson - Andrew Elliott has left Aon Consulting to join Hymans as senior investment consultant. He is based in London.
Baring Asset Management - Andrew Lamb and Paul Morgan have been appointed senior US equity analyst and investment analyst respectively. Lamb will join Barings in January from Insight Investment Management. Morgan also starts in January, joining from Brown Shipley & Co. Both are based in London.
Northern Trust - Rimes Technologies' Anthony Stevens is the new head of client service for asset manager clients in Europe, Middle East and Africa, part of the investment risk and analytical services group. Also, Sungard's Damian Powell has been appointed as head of EMEA institutional sales - a new position, created to manage increasing new business opportunities. Citigroup's Rhonda Zoef joins the team as UK pension fund sales manager, reporting Powell. The group appointed earlier Cristina Quazzo, from HSBC private banking, and Anita Weiss, already with the firm since 2004, as senior relationship managers, focusing on UK pension funds.
Henderson Global Investors - Rena Laute has been promoted to head of distribution for institutional clients in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. She is based in Frankfurt.
Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) - The London-based Bernard Henshall is the new sales director, responsible for building sales and developing SWIP's fund of funds business. He previously worked at Winterthur Life UK as head of investment distribution.
