GLOBAL - ABP, AFM, BGI, Hewitt, Redington Partners, Citi, Hazell Carr.

ABP - Nicole Beuken has been promoted to become the director of the administration bureau within ABP Bestuur, the governing board of the Dutch pension fund. The promotion is part of ABP's plans to split into a pension fund and administration organisation on March 1.

AFM - Gerald Santing, closely involved in the indexation communication of Dutch pension funds, will leave the financial markets authority on June 1, as part of a restructuring planned for the middle of this year, and which will reduce the number of departments from 27 to 17. René Maatman will join AFM on May 1 to taken on part of Santing's portfolio, supervising capital markets. New director Harman Korte will take on responsibility for the supervision on transparency of financial products, supervision on pension administrators and legal affairs.

Barclays Global Investors - Morgan Stanley Investment Management's Oreste Gallo has been tapped to head BGI's operation in Southern Europe - covering France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Gallo will divide his time between London and Southern Europe where he will market BGI products and services to institutional investors.

Hewitt Associates - Jan Burke, an associate of the Pensions Management Institute, has left Hymans Robertson to join Hewitt's UK retirement practice.

Redington Partners - Paul Conyers, head of portfolio research at ABN Amro, has joined the London-based pension investment consultant as a quantitative consultant. He will be part of the management team responsible for overseeing quantitative analysis and developing new proprietary technologies.

Alliance Trust - Standard Life's John Hylands was appointed as a non-executive director of the financial services gruop earlier this week. He will join the audit committee, becoming its chairman when the current chairman, Gordon McQueen, resigns from the board at the end of March.

Citigroup - Jeroen Wilbrink has decided to leave investment banking "to enjoy a lengthy gardening leave". It is unclear where he will go next.

Hazell Carr - Jonathan Seed, from Buck Consultants in Edinburgh, has joined as regional head of actuarial services in the Stirling office where he will take on the role of scheme actuary to their largest clients. William Short has also joined the Stirling actuarial team, joining from Hewitt in Cork. Thomas Laws joined Hazell Carr's Reading actuarial team from Aon.  He has been appointed as scheme actuary to six of the firm's larger clients as well as to around 20 of the company's smaller schemes.

Gazelle Corporate Finance - Richard Hall has left rating agency Standard & Poor's to become a director of the pensions advisory team.
