GLOBAL - APG, SAM, Metzler Asset Management, CB Richard Ellis Investors, Schroders, Close Investments, T. Rowe Price, Mesirow Financial.

APG Groep - Mirjam van Praag is joining the supervisory board of APG Groep, the newly-separated asset management arm of Heerlen-based pension fund ABP, for a term of four years, alongside chairman Elco Brinkman and deputy chairman and former Belgian prime minister Guy Verhofstadt. She is a professor for entrepreneurship and organisation at the University of Amsterdam.

Sustainable Asset Management - Reto Ringger, chief executive officer of SAM, a division of Robeco, will leave the company in February 2009 to “pursue new opportunities” in the sector. Ringger started SAM in 1995 but the firm is now majority-owned by Dutch asset manager Robeco, itself part of Rabobank. SAM has yet to announce his successor.

Metzler Asset Management - Ulf Wokurka has been appointed as managing director of the asset management division of the Frankfurt-based bank. Wokurka previously served as deputy chairman of the board and finance executive committee of the Kazakhstan state holding Samruk.

CB Richard Ellis Investors - Bob Zerbst, chairman of CBRE Investors, has announced he is retiring from the company, effective 31 December. The company completed a CEO succession plan last year which moved Vance Maddocks into key duties.

Watson Wyatt - Alex McTavish, Martin Dietz and Tom Wood have been appointed as investment consultants and Derek Steeden is joining as an investment analyst to the teams in Reigate. McTavish is arriving as an investment consultant from RSA Insurance Group’s investment team, Dietz was in the quant strategy team at Ernst and Young’s global financial services risk management department, and Wood was an actuarial consultant at Towers Perrin but is now joining the strategy team. Steeden has joined from Punter Southall, where he was a pensions actuarial associate. The firm has also signed 31 university graduates to its investment consulting practice.

Schroders - James Buckley is stepping into the newly-created role of head of Asia property multi-manager. He will be based in Hong Kong and will report to Jenny Buck, Schroders’ head of property multi-manager. Prior to joining Schroders, Buckley was the director of investment and acquisition for Harvest Capital Partners.

Close Investments - Sam Barton is joining the smaller companies team of associated company Close Private Asset Management Limited (CPAM) headed by Deryck Noble-Nesbitt as investment manager of their smaller companies funds. She joins from Unicorn Asset Management.

T. Rowe Price - Cindy Lau was appointed as an associate portfolio manager to the global fixed income team, based in London. She will focus on macro research of the Asian markets, in particular South Korea and Thailand. She has just completed her MBA at Harvard Business School.

Mesirow Financial International - John Collins and Dermot Keegan join the London-based international research and investment team. Collins joins the firm from Watson Wyatt as a senior analyst focused on hedge fund manager research covering European hedge funds across various disciplines. Keegan will head the UK/continental Europe client coverage team, joining from Old Mutual Asset Managers.
