GLOBAL - IVBN, Russell Investments, NAPF, Schroders, JP Morgan Asset Management, ETFS, Sigma Actuaries
IVBN - The Dutch Association of Institutional Investors in Real Estate (IVBN) has elected Hans Copier as chairman. Copier is a member of the European board of ING Real Estate Investment Management and the firm's country manager for the Netherlands. He has been a director of IVBN since June 2008. Copier follows René Hogenboom, who was elected IVBN chairman in 2007.
Russell Investments - Two specialists - Farid Kabbaj and Bouke van den Berg - have joined Russell's nine-strong Benelux and Nordic team in Amsterdam. Kabbaj joins from Milliman, where he was senior manager responsible for creating customised solutions in relation to investment strategies, liability driven investments and asset liability management. Van den Berg joins from Vanguard Investments, where he was responsible for all Swedish institutional clients and, in the Netherlands, insurers and private banks.
NAPF - Sally Bridgeland and Joyce Martindale have been elected as new members of the UK National Association of Pension Funds' investment council. Bridgeland is chief executive at BP Pension Trustees, while Martindale is head of Investment Implementation and Change within the investment team at the Railways Pension Scheme. They replace Gerry Degaute from Royal Mail Pensions Trustees and Peter Morris from Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, who are retiring,
Schroders - The asset manager has added two names to its global equities team. Sam Catalano has joined as a portfolio manager and global sector specialist covering the materials sector. He joins from Macquarie in London, where he led the European metals and mining equity research team. Giles Money has joined as a portfolio manager and specialist climate change analyst, reporting to Simon Webber, co-manager of the Schroder Global Climate Change fund.
JP Morgan Asset Management - Nick Gartside will join the asset manager as international CIO of fixed income in December. He will report to Bob Michele, global CIO of fixed income for New York, London and Asia. Gartside will join from Schroders, where he was head of global fixed income. He joined Schroders in 2002 as a euro government bond portfolio manager, and then became a global government bond portfolio manager in 2007.
ETFS - Patrick Carter has joined the company's US sales team as part of an aggressive US expansion programme. He will focus on expanding the company's distribution capabilities in California and the West Coast markets, with primary responsibility for institutional clients and national accounts. Carter has more than 20 years experience in the financial services industry, including roles in the institutional and wealth management markets.
Sigma Actuaries - Elena and Stephan Cronje have joined Sigma Actuaries as directors and partners. Both Elena and Stephan are UK qualified actuaries. Elena holds degrees from Cambridge University and London City University, while Stephen holds degrees from the Nottingham Law School and Stellenbosch University. In their new roles, they will broaden the firm's geographic coverage and scope of actuarial and management consulting service offerings.
