GLOBAL - Avida International, Barrie & Hibbert, HSBC Asset Management, IASB, Kleinwort Benson Bank, LCP, Mercer, Nestlé Capital Advisers, Principal Global Investors, Syz & Co, Throgmorton

Avida International - Roelf Pater has joined following his departure from Aegon earlier this year. As reported earlier this week, Pater has joined as senior consultant.

Barrie & Hibbert - Celene Lee has been named head of pensions, with a dozen years of experience working for global consultancies. Prior to joining the company, which specialises in financial modelling, Lee spent almost seven years at Hewitt Associates and has also worked at Towers Perrin in the past.

HSBC Asset Management - Rudolf Apenbrink has been named chief executive of the European division of the asset management arm, following the promotion of Joanna Munro to chief executive of Asia-Pacific, a position Apenbrink previously held. Munro, who joined HSBC five years ago from Axa Investment Management, will report to global chief executive John Flint. She will assume her new position next May, with chief operating officer Edmund Stokes acting as interim chief executive until then.

International Accounting Standards Board - Hans Hoogervorst, as reported earlier this week, has been appointed chair of the IASB, replacing Sir David Tweedie.

Kleinwort Benson Bank - Sally Tennant will become chief executive in mid-January, replacing Robert Taylor. Tennant was previously chief executive of the London-based private banking operation at Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch. Frederic Rochat, who last month was announced as assuming responsibility for running the Lombard Odier's London office, has now started.

LCP - The consultancy has announced the promotions of Rachel Banham, Nick Bunch, Tom Durkin, Laura McMaster and Alex Whitley to partner within its pension and insurance practice. Banham joined LCP in 1999 and advises trustees and companies on pension arrangements, while Bunch has been with the company since 2007. Durkin works with clients on aspects of risk management, while McMaster specialises in Solvency II implementation. Whitley, who joined in 2002, is a member of the firm's public sector outsourcing group.

Mercer - Giles Archibald, former head of the client services group, has been named head of M&A consulting for EMEA. He replaces Eric Warner, who has retired, while Peter Baynham will continue as head of M&A consulting for Ireland and the UK. Archibald, who has been with the consultancy since 1977, has held a number of positions, including head of the international retirement group.

Nestlé Capital Advisers - Following the retirement of Jean-Pierre Steiner, Stephen Phillips of Nestlé UK has been named as his successor, as previously reported.

Principal Global Investors  - Philip Garcia joins as head of client relationship management from T Rowe Price. Based in London, Garcia will report to European chief executive Nick Lyster. In addition to his time at T Rowe Price, Garcia spent 20 years at Towers Perrin, where he was head of UK investment consulting, as well as the trustee of its UK pension plan.

Syz & Co - Xavier Guillon assumes responsibility for the company's Oyster investment funds division, replacing Alan Mudie as chief executive, who will now head the fund research department. Guillon has been with the company for three years, with previous experience at private bank Brown Brothers Harriman.

Throgmorton - Adam Hewitson and Roger Looker join as legal counsel and non-executive director, respectively. Looker, who has much experience in corporate governance, was a co-founder of Gilbert Elliot Corporate Finance and launched Stafford Corporate Consulting in 2001, while Hewitson previously worked for law firm Shoosmiths.
