Syntrus Achmea - The pension investor has appointed Rogier Krens and Erik-Jan van Dijk to its Treasury and Derivates department, which Krens will be heading. Krens was managing director of financial institutions at Société Générale in the Netherlands. Van Dijk will take charge of the derivatives team. He leaves Rabobank International, where he was advisor on risk management for institutional clients.
The UK Pension Protection Fund (PPF) - The PPF has recruited a panel of nine managers to offer credit investments as part of its alternative investment strategy. Apollo Management, Ares Management, Avenue Capital, BlueMountain Capital Partners, GSO Capital Partners, Intermediate Capital Group, Muzinich, Oaktree Capital and York Capital Management have been appointed to the panel. The appointments are part of the PPF's strategy to develop its alternatives portfolio as set out in its statement of investment principles.
Aviva Investors - Dan James has been appointed head of global aggregate portfolio management, joining from Fischer Francis Trees and Watts. James, who will assume his new role next month, was head of short duration and absolute return in his previous position and has also worked at Fortis Investments as chief investment officer of aggregate and absolute return.
Banque Piguet & Cie - Gioacchino Puglia has recently been named first vice-president of institutional business development. Puglia spent almost a decade at his previous employer Lombard Odier, where he was most recently senior vice-president of institutional client relationship management. He started his career at Watson Wyatt's Zurich office.
ING Investment Management - André van den Heuvel will join as chief marketing officer in May and has departed BlackRock, where he headed Benelux institutional business organisation and business development. Van der Heuvel will take over responsibilities for marketing in the European region from ING IM's chief executive Michael van Elk. Hessel van Beijma, Van den Heuvel's deputy, has been named as his successor at BlackRock.
Muse Advisory - The independent pensions governance and administration consultancy has appointed Ola Davidson as associate, taking the team to 16. Davidson worked previously at Mercer, where she had been an administration and governance consultant for six years. Prior to that, she worked in the implementation team of MNPA and at JLT.
BNP Paribas Investment Partners - The company has strengthened its sales and marketing structure with a number of new appointments. Michel Anastassiades joins as head of business development, Andrea Favaloro as head of external distribution sales, Anthony Finan as head of marketing, communication and group networks and Marianne Demarchi as head of group networks. Roger Price-Haworth joins as head of institutional clients for the UK and Ireland, while Graham Elliot will become chief executive at BNP Paribas Asset Management Middle East.
Internos Real Investors - The €1.5bn owner-managed real estate fund management business has boosted its European team with several hires across its Amsterdam, London and Frankfurt offices. Harry Hanekamp has been appointed as managing director to provide strategic advice and lead the Dutch office. He is joined by Arjan Niemeijer, who has been appointed as asset manager for the Netherlands. Maudi Bouwmeester also joins the team as office manager. In the UK, Carla Murray has joined as head of corporate services. Justyna Pyra joins as portfolio manager, while Jimmy Mattrel has been appointed as transactions manager. Alberto Esguevillas has been appointed as asset manager focusing on Spanish and shopping centre assets, Mark Eagles as an IT support engineer. Sarah Davies and Jacqui Hopper join the fund accounting team. In Germany, Lennard Besch joins as an asset manager, while Julian Schneider joins as a transactions analyst.
GE Capital Real Estate - Xabier Barrondo has been promoted to the position of Western Europe cluster leader and managing director for France. In this new role, he will manage GE Capital Real Estate's €4bn regional portfolio and lead France, Spain and Italy with a direct oversight of the French platform. He comes to this role following an assignment as managing director for Iberia and has been with GE Capital Real Estate since 2005.
