GLOBAL - The International Organisation of Pension Supervisors, RBS, Aon Hewitt, Russell Investments, Sciens Fund of Funds Management
The International Organisation of Pension Supervisors (IOPS) - Ross Jones, deputy chairman of the Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority (APRA), has been re-elected as president. Darren McShane, executive director from the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority in Hong Kong, China, was elected vice-chair of the IOPS technical committee. The following members were also elected to serve on the IOPS executive committee: Superintendency of Pensions, Costa Rica; Egyptian Financial Services Authority, Egypt; Pension Funds Regulatory and Development Authority, India; Pension Funds Supervision Commission, Italy; Insurance Commission, Jordan; and Romanian Private Pension System Supervisory Commission, Romania.
RBS - Ray Martin has been appointed group head of pensions and benefits at RBS, based in Edinburgh. Starting in January, he joins from DHL, where he was vice-president of UK pensions. He will manage the group's pension fund, which has more than 220,000 members and assets of around £19bn (€22bn). Martin has more than 30 years' experience working for international companies including Diageo, AstraZeneca and Scottish & Newcastle.
Aon Hewitt - The consultancy has appointed Meena Raza to lead its global benefits team in Dubai, which advises multinational companies on pension and benefit arrangements. She joins after eight years with Mercer Consulting and Marsh in Dubai, and with 15 years' experience working in the United Arab Emirates.
Russell Investments - The UK-based asset manager has made a number of changes to its fixed income team. Albert Jalso moves from the head office in Seattle to London and takes on management for several global bond funds. Gerard Fitzpatrick, who previously managed the funds from London, has transferred to Seattle to assume responsibility for the RIC Strategic Bond fund. Jalso will be responsible for the RIC Global Bond and OpenWorld Global Dynamic Bond funds, as well as a number of global bond funds within Russell's institutional businesses worldwide.
Sciens Fund of Funds Management Holdings - The company, part of the Sciens Capital Management Group, has appointed Rhian Lloyd to the new position of chief operating officer for managed accounts. Prior to joining Sciens, Lloyd managed the derivatives and alternative investment legal functions at Threadneedle. She has also served as head of legal at CQS UK, an alternative asset management firm. James McNeillie and Filippo Brera have been appointed legal counsel for Sciens's managed account platform.
