NOW: Pensions - Win Robbins has been appointed to the board of trustee directors. Robbins has had a long career in investment banking and investment management, including head of European fixed income at Barclays Global Investors and Credit Suisse Asset Management. She currently has a range of responsibilities, including independent trustee at Landesbank Baden-Wuerttemberg UK pension fund; board member of City Merchants High Yield Trust; chair of the investment committee at MaxCap LLP; and partner at The Solway Partnership.
Aon Hewitt - Sion Cole has returned as a senior member of the consultancy's UK investment consulting practice. He joins from UBS Global Asset Management, where he was an executive director and head of UK and Ireland fiduciary management. Before then, he spent eight years with Hewitt Associates, where he was a senior investment consultant and head of the investment client team in Bristol.
AP6 - Adam Laurén has been appointed interim acting chief executive at AP6, one of Sweden's national buffer funds, following the surprise resignation of Marianne Dicander Alexandersson after less than a year in that role. Laurén is currently CFO and has previously worked as the acting chief executive. He will assume his role on 1 May, when Dicander Alexandersson leaves.
West Midlands Pension Fund - The scheme looking to revamp its entire leadership structure as part of a wider redundancy plan that could see the elimination of a number of top roles. IPE understands that the role of chief investment officer - currently held by Judy Saunders - is one of the positions at risk. A spokesman told IPE that talks were still ongoing with employees whose positions were deemed at-risk, and he stressed that no final decisions had been made.
Swiss BVK - The first trial in the alleged corruption scandal involving the former head of asset management at the civil servants' pension fund of Zurich (BVK) is set for July. In October last year, the Swiss public prosecutor filed charges against Daniel Gloor and several of his business partners for alleged bribery and corruption. The first trial against Gloor and three of his former business partners will start on 11 July. Two other former business partners face trial in mid-September, a spokesperson for the Zurich public prosecutor confirmed to IPE. A parliamentary commission investigating the charges is expected to file its report this summer.
JLT Pension Capital Strategies - Martyn Phillips has been appointed head of buyout consulting. He joins from Lane Clark & Peacock, where he was a senior consultant. He has also held key roles at Prudential UK Insurance, Towers Perrin and Alexander Clay.
Fidelity Worldwide Investment - Hugh Mullan has been appointed managing director of the UK defined contribution and retail business. Mullan, who is presently European chief operating officer, will take up his new role at the start of April. This move follows Gary Shaughnessy's decision to leave the company.
Henderson Global Investors - Matthew Beesley has been appointed director and head of global equities. He joins from Trinity Street Asset Management, where he was a partner. Beesley started his career at Mercury Asset Management (now Blackrock) before joining JP Morgan Asset Management, where he was responsible for institutional global equity mandates.
Kames Capital - Piers Hillier has been appointed head of overseas equities. He joins from LV= Asset Management, where he served as chief investment officer. Before then, he was CIO at West LB Mellon Asset Management. He has also worked at Deutsche Asset Management and Schroder Investment Management.
