Pension Protection Fund - The UK lifeboat scheme has appointed a new non-executive director, with Sharmila Nebhrajani joining the board. Currently chief executive of the Association of Medical Research Charities, she has also worked as director of finance within the country's public national health service and spent time as chief operating officer and finance director of BBC Future Media and Technology, a division of the publicly funded broadcaster.

GMO - Marcel Salzmann has been named GMO's new head of Switzerland, joining after holding a similar role at Invesco. With 17 years experience, Salzmann has spent time overseeing the multi-manager investment business for UBS Global Asset Management and has acted as management consultant for banks and insurance companies. His appointment was effective the beginning of August.

Muse Advisory
- The pensions governance and administration consultancy has appointed Karen Cadman as senior associate. Cadman joins from the Cabinet Office where she was head of the scheme management executive, previously having held the position of head of civil service pensions since 2003. At the government department, she led a review of the delivery of civil service pensions, which resulted in the consolidation of scheme administration in MyCSP and the creation of new governance arrangements.

Hastings Funds Management - The firm has appointed a new member to its European infrastructure investment team. Oliver Schubert joins the European infrastructure equity team as director infrastructure. Schubert was previously senior vice president at Macquarie Capital Europe

M&G Investments
- The investment manager has expanded its distribution team in the Nordic region with two new appointments. Robert Heaney joined M&G in July 2012 after five years with RBS in Stockholm where he was responsible for coverage of the insurance sector as part of the Nordic financial institutions team, and more recently within the Nordic equity capital markets team. Billyana Kuncheva also joined M&G in July from Aktia Invest, where she was responsible for fixed income and alternatives manager selection over the last five years. Heaney and Kuncheva both report directly to Stefan Cornelissen, head of Nordic and Benelux institutional business at M&G, based in Amsterdam.
