BA Pensions – Bev Durston, current head of alternatives at British Airways Pension Investment Management, is to move to Australia, departing the company in a few weeks. A spokesman told IPE her departure would be followed by an internal reorganisation, with recruitment for a newly created role beginning “in due course”. Durston has previously worked as a senior portfolio manager for Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC and held a number of positions at Australian superannuation funds and asset management houses, including the Queensland Investment Corporation and Sunsuper.
The Pensions Trust – David Lane has been appointed CFO. He joins from Minster Law, a UK legal services business, where he held a similar role. Before then, he was divisional finance and commercial director at NG Bailey. He has also served as chair of trustees for the Stanley Tools UK Pension Scheme and a member-nominated trustee for the Jacuzzi UK Retirement Benefits Scheme.
National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) – The head of the Tesco Pension Scheme is set to become the next chairman of UK industry body the National Association of Pension Funds in October. Ruston Smith, group pensions and insurable risk director at diversified retail group Tesco, will take over as chairman of the organisation after its AGM on 18 October.
MSCI/Lyxor Asset Management – Alain Dubois, who has served as chairman at Lyxor Asset Management for a decade, is to join MSCI has managing director and head of new business and product development at its index division. He joined the Société Générale Group in June 2000 and before then worked in the equity derivatives departments of Commerzbank and Lazard Frères. He is to be replaced at Lyxor by Inès de Dinechin.
Generali Investments Europe – Santo Borsellino has been appointed chief executive, effective 24 June. The current chief executive, Philippe Setbon, is to leave the company. Borsellino joined Generali in 2008 as head of equities at Generali Investments.
Aegon AM – Fernand Schuermann has started as commercial director at Aegon Asset Management on 1 June. He has left asset manager Robeco, where he was a senior vice-president. Previously, Schuermann was chairman of the executive board of AXA IM Netherlands and director at ING IM.
Pioneer Investments – Two senior research analysts have been appointed to the Dublin office. Martin Dolan and Michael Morris join the European equity research team as senior equity analysts. Dolan joins from Espirito Santo Investment Bank, while Morris joins from JP Morgan Cazenove, where he was head of construction and building materials.
Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) – Chief executive Andrew Baker is to step down at the end of this year. He has served as chief executive since the beginning of 2009, having previously been deputy chief executive since 2007. AIMA said it was in the process of identifying his successor.
Kames Capital – Scott Fleming has joined the fixed income team, joining from Nuvest Capital, where he was a fixed income manager. Before then, he worked at Mondrian Investment Partners, ABN Amro Bank and UBS Investment Bank.
Schroders – Bogdan Popovici has been appointed as a global fixed income fund manager. He joins from Wellington Management, where he has been a macro portfolio managers on global rates and currency exchange since 2011. Before than, he worked at BlackRock.
Hermes Fund Managers – Ian Pascal has been appointed head of marketing and communications. He joins from Barings, where he has led the company’s marketing strategy for the last 11 years. Before then, he held senior marketing positions at Old Mutual Asset Management and Hill Samuel Asset Management.
