GLOBAL – PGGM, BlackRock, PensionDanmark, SPK, Nutmeg, Baring Asset Management, KNG Securities, Standard Life Investments
PGGM – The Dutch pension provider has appointed Else Bos as its new chief executive. Bos's appointment takes effect immediately. She succeeds Martin van Rijn, who joined the new Dutch Cabinet as state secretary in the Ministry of Health, Welfare & Sport in November 2012. Since van Rijn's departure, Bos has been acting chief executive alongside her job as chief of institutional business. PGGM said the appointment, still subject to the approval of De Nederlandsche Bank, followed a careful selection process and was made by a selection and appointments committee, consisting of representatives of the shareholder and the supervisory board.
BlackRock – Marc van Heel has left Goldman Sachs Asset Management for a yet unspecified position at asset manager BlackRock. Van Heel confirmed to IPE he would not serve as head of Benelux and the Middle East of iShares, as has been suggested in the Dutch media. BlackRock is to announce his new position, which he will start at the beginning of May, towards the end of April. Erik Bouland, a bonds expert, is to succeed Van Heel at GSAM.
PensionDanmark – Mogens Muff has been appointed director of real estate at Danish labour-market fund PensionDanmark, replacing Søren Ulslev. Muff was previously divisional director at property firm MT Højgaard. Before then, he was head of property at DSB, divisional director at Skanska Danmark and group director at NCC Danmark. Muff took up his role at PensionDanmark at the end of last week.
SPK – The pension fund for Swedish savings institutions has appointed Carola Fornelid as head actuary. She is replacing Fredrik Palm, who is leaving to join Alecta as chief actuary. Fornelid has held actuarial positions at SPP and Alecta, as well as served as chief actuary at Swedbank's insurance arm. She is also the chairman of the Svenska Aktuarieföreningen, the Swedish Association of Actuaries.
Nutmeg – Todd Ruppert, founder and chief executive at RTR International and former president of investment services at T Rowe Price, has made a "substantial personal investment" in UK online discretionary manager Nutmeg.com. Other investors include Tim Draper, Daniel Aegerter and Klaus Hommels. Nutmeg plans to offer solutions for "dis-intermediated and disenfranchised" retail investors in the UK.
Baring Asset Management (Barings) – Sophie Dupré has been appointed head of organisational risk. She joins from Schroders, where she was head of investment risk framework. Before then, she held various roles in risk control at Citigroup, Banque Nationale de Paris and Société Générale.
KNG Securities – Cedric Van Kerrebroeck has joined the fixed income team, where he will develop KNG's coverage of the Benelux region. He joins from Deutsche Bank, where he held a number of roles within the Belgian operation, latterly as a euro-bond trader.
Standard Life Investments – Kieran Curtis has been appointed investment director for the emerging market debt team. He joins from Aviva Investors, where he has served as head of local currency emerging market bonds since 2005.
