EUROPE - Barclays Global Investors has named Nick Shellard as European business development officer for its iShares exchange-traded funds business.
The hire follows comments from BGI's co-chief executive Andrew Skirton yesterday, who told IPE the firm was seeing a lot of interest in Europe for ETFs.
"Nick Shellard has great knowledge and experience of ETFs," said Bruce Lavine, head of iShares Europe. "We can only benefit from him joining the European iShares team."
"ETFs can be used in many different ways and the European market is still just scratching the surface. Nick's first role will be to build on our broad client base of asset managers and hedge fund managers in UK and Europe."
Shellard joins from Morgan Stanley where he was vice president in the transitions teams. He will work with Ana Concejero, who joined BGI in February from Mako Financial Markets.
