EUROPE – Stephen Oxley, former senior investment consultant at Watson Wyatt is to head up Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company’s (Paamco) new European hedge fund of funds operations in London.

In his role as managing director, Oxley will help establish the European entity, and will be responsible for developing Paamco’s business with European institutions. At Watson Wyatt, he was primarily responsible for assisting with the management of the firm’s investment practice, and its hedge funds research team.

California-based hedge fund of funds firm Paamco was established in 2000, and has approximately two billion dollars in assets under management on behalf of institutional investors. A European operation is being established to match “the growing European marketplace”.

Says Jane Buchan, managing director of Paamco: “"Institutions have always been our target investors and remain critical to our success. As we witness increasing levels of investment by these institutions into the hedge fund of funds arena, organisations like Paamco must continue to respond to the specific needs and interests of those institutions."

Oxley will be joined in London by Alper Ince, who will be responsible for European hedge fund manager research. Ince has been with Paamco in the US since July last year, prior to which he was leading the hedge fund investment and manager research effort at Barra.
