UK/EUROPE – Charlie Metcalfe, the former head of Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s UK and Northern European business, has joined mPower Europe, the electronic investment services advisor, as managing director in the UK.

Metcalfe, a former managing director with Merrill Lynch Capital Management, will focus on the UK institutional market for mPower, which was set up in London last year to provide institutions with financial and investment advice via its partnerships with a number of financial institutions and corporates.

Commenting on the appointment, mPower Europe founder and chief executive Drake Mosier, said: “We are delighted to have attracted someone with Charlie’s senior level expertise to the team. His experience and knowledge of the institutional funds marketplace will be invaluable as we build our UK operation.
“ This appointment is the first in our planned strategy of hiring the highest quality personnel.”

The group was first established in the US in 1995.
