NETHERLANDS – Dutch bank insurer Fortis Bank has appointed Andrew Stuart as global head equity finance sales in London.
Fortis said that Stuart is responsible for the co-ordination and development of new relationships with investment institutions. He is to report to the bank’s Amsterdam operations.
Stuart has been involved in the securities lending/equity finance market since 1986. In 1990 he established a global stock-loan intermediary business for the Fleming’s group, focusing on supplying international equities to the emerging prime broking and hedge fund markets.
He later established an independent third party agency business at UK stockbroker Collins Stewart. He also did stints with ABN Amro and Barclays, working in their securisation and asset financing markets.
