UK- Geraldine Wright is joining Gartmore as an account director for UK institutional clients, a role that sees her working with a number of pension funds. Wright will report to head of client services Elaine Gordon and will work closely with the investment management side of the business.
She joins the twelve-strong team from Schroder Investment Management where she was most recently a director of segregated account management having previously been involved with European fund management.
Her background is largely investment-related having worked at Dillon Read Securities, Nikko Securities and The Sedgwick Group before joining Schroders.
Gartmore recently restructured its UK portfolio construction teams following poor performance and a number of staff departures. Jon Thornton, head of UK equities, decided to combine the institutional and retail teams into a single group, a move that brings them in line with the European equities team.
Under the new structure, Gartmore will construct portfolios according to risk rather than client type. There will be four levels of risk- Alpha, Alpha Plus, High Alpha and Aggressive Alpha- each feeding off the in-house research.
Gartmore also appointed Sacha Sadan as senior investment manager in the UK team. He joins from the Universities Superannuation Scheme where he was lead manager on its £4bn large cap fund. Rob Jones, previously at Singer & Friedlander, recently joined Gartmore as a senior investment manager.
Gartmore manages more than £52.5bn in assets.
