UK- Morgan Stanley Investment Management(MSIM), the US group’s London-based investment management division, appointed Gartmore Investment Management’s Kristina Ilar to the newly created position of vice-president, responsible for Nordic sales.
Ilar, who was head of Gartmore Norden , took up her new job on Monday.
In her new capacity at MSIM, which manages 462 billion dollars worldwide (356.03 billion euros), she will be in charge of developing the division’s “considerable potential“ in Scandinavia.
The vice –president is to be responsible “for all aspects of institutional sales and business development on the Nordic region”, Morgan Stanley said in a statement.
Michael Green, head of institutional sales for the Europe Middle-East and Africa division, said: “Kristina’s extensive experience will be key in helping to unlock that potential. This appointment provides further evidence of our commitment to grow our institutional business across Europe.”
Ilar, who before joining Gartmore was broker consultant for Skandia Life in the Nordic markets, added: “There is increasing interest among clients in the Nordic region for exactly the type of cutting edge global investment management expertise that Morgan Stanley offers.”
She said:” I am looking forward to what is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a business with great growth potential.”
Ilar has been succeeded at Gartmore, which she joined in 1995, by Patrick Silfverling in November 2003.
