UK - State Street Global Advisors has named Citigroup Asset Management's Richard Owen as head of institutional sales for the UK and Ireland.

"Owen will be responsible for leading SSGA's institutional sales efforts in the U.K. and Ireland as the company continues to strengthen its market share," SSGA said.

He will report to Kanesh Lakhani, head of European marketing and consultant relations.

Owen "joins SSGA from Citigroup Asset Management (formerly Legg Mason) where he was director of business development".

It added he has extensive experience in providing investment solutions to pension funds, corporate treasurers and insurance companies.

"We are delighted to welcome Richard to SSGA," said Lakhani.

"Last year was our best performing year ever, and Richard's extensive experience and knowledge of the institutional marketplace will be invaluable to us as we continue to build on this success in the UK and Ireland."
